Santiago Minguez

ESADE BUSINESS SCHOOL

“Finance is not about the formula alone. It is about understanding the result, interpreting what drives it, turning that understanding into the right business decision, and having the leadership to articulate its rationale and bring others along.”

— Santiago Minguez

Teaching Corporate Finance, company valuation and M&A across master's, executive education and in-company programmes, alongside academic leadership of the Executive Masters in Finance.

Academic excellence since 2005

Santiago Minguez has taught finance at ESADE Business School since 2005. Drawing on nearly three decades of experience in investment banking, independent advisory and investment, his teaching bridges financial theory and real-world decision-making, delivered in a distinctly personal style that generations of his students will instantly recognise.

His classes cover corporate finance shaped by capital discipline, company valuation grounded in fundamentals, and M&A analysed through the decisions that determine whether value is created or destroyed.

A member of ESADE's Core Faculty, he has served as Director of the Executive Masters in Finance since 2005, shaping the academic experience of the next generation of finance professionals. From 2022 to 2025, he also oversaw ESADE's entire Executive Masters portfolio, comprising 22 programmes.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Teaching extends well beyond the classroom — through academic leadership, international engagement, public debate, lifelong learning and the relationships that connect students, alumni and the wider business community.

Graduation & Closing Ceremonies

Leading closing and graduation ceremonies for ESADE’s Executive Masters, particularly the Executive Master in Finance — marking student’s culmination of an academic journey and the beginning of a new professional chapter.

Conferences & Speaking Engagements

Speaking at conferences on current economic and financial developments, business strategy and emerging trends, bringing a practitioner’s perspective to the challenges shaping companies, markets and investment decisions.

Media & Opinion

Contributing to the public debate through media interviews and opinion pieces, providing a financial and corporate perspective on current economic and business developments.

International Academic Exposure

Leading Executive Masters international modules at leading academic institutions, broadening the learning experience through exposure to different markets, perspectives and business environments.

International Company Visits

Organising and participating in company visits during international programmes, connecting students with local business leaders while fostering professional and cultural exchange.

Books & Publications

Contributing specialist perspectives on finance and strategy to books and publications, and writing forewords for works by former students, extending academic relationships into their professional and intellectual work.

International Faculty Engagement

Teaching at leading international business schools as part of the faculty of joint programmes, exchanging perspectives with students and professors across institutions and bringing different academic, business and cultural approaches into the classroom.

Visiting & Guest Engagements

Joining international business schools as visiting professor and invited guest at graduation ceremonies and other academic events, fostering relationships and exchanging perspectives with students, faculty and academic communities beyond ESADE.

Community & Cohort Engagement

Taking part in the informal experiences and social activities that strengthen relationships, build cohort identity and create connections that often extend well beyond the programme.

Alumni Engagement

Continuing to engage with ESADE alumni, particularly the Master in Finance community, through in-person and online conferences addressing current financial, economic and strategic issues — creating an ongoing forum for learning, discussion and professional exchange well beyond graduation.
